This 9-acre fen is located in Genoa Township and named in memory of a long- time member of the Livingston Land Conservancy Board of Directors. It is located west of the intersection of Chilson and Coon Lake Roads. This fen is characterized by alkaline neutral water chemistry with relatively high dissolved mineral content which produces few plant nutrients, producing a unique and sensitive habitat for vegetation. Fens have become rare in Michigan since most have been mined for their peat.
